How It Works

Install the Extension

Download WatchTab from the App Store and enable the extension in Safari settings.

Set Reload Interval

Click the WatchTab icon in the toolbar and select your desired reload interval.

Click Start

Press the "Start" button and the page will automatically reload at your set interval.

Is WatchTab free?

Auto-reload is completely free. Content monitoring (change detection and notifications) is a premium feature available through a subscription. Try the free auto-reload first to see how it works.

Are there differences between macOS and iOS/iPadOS?

Core features are shared, but there are platform-specific differences. On macOS, auto-reload and monitoring continue running in the background even when Safari is minimized. On iOS/iPadOS, the extension only works while Safari is in the foreground and automatically resumes when you return to the app.

How do I choose what to monitor?

Two ways. In "Full Page" mode, WatchTab auto-detects the site type (news, shopping, data, etc.) and applies the optimal detection method. In "Element" mode, use the Element Picker (pen icon) to click on specific elements you want to watch. No CSS knowledge required.

Can I use it on multiple tabs simultaneously?

Yes. Each tab can have its own reload interval and monitoring settings. Settings are saved per URL, so opening the same site in another tab automatically inherits the configuration.

What happens when a change is detected?

You'll receive a browser notification and an icon badge. The changed elements are highlighted on the page, and the notification explains what changed (e.g., "Text content was modified" or "Page structure was updated").

What reload intervals are available?

Anywhere from 5 seconds to 24 hours. Choose from presets or enter a custom value. There's also a randomized interval option (±30% of your setting) to help avoid bot detection on certain sites.
